A 40-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault and booked into the El Paso County jail Sunday after police said she rear-ended a motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver, a 32-year-old male, was not wearing a helmet and suffered a serious head injury, police said. He was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

According to police, the crash happened around 7:44 p.m. at the intersection of Colorado Avenue and Walnut Street.

The driver of the car was not injured, police said.

Walnut Street was closed at Colorado Avenue for both southbound and northbound traffic until 11 p.m.

Police did not release the names of the drivers and said the woman faced several other traffic-related charges in addition to vehicular assault.
