Police arrested one driver and cited another after a rollover crash that left a 21-year-old woman dead Saturday night.

Officers booked William Knowles III, 24, into the El Paso County jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide after the crash, which happened about 9:30 p.m. at Barnes Road and Iron Horse Trail, according to Colorado Springs police.

Investigators suspect Knowles was under the influence of alcohol when the Toyota 4Runner he was driving slammed into a Kia SUV that had turned left in front of him.

Janelle Beebe, who was riding in the Toyota’s backseat, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, police said.

Knowles was among four people hospitalized with nonlife threatening injuries. He was held in jail Sunday night in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Officers cited the driver of the Kia SUV, Erin Brietske, 24, for turning left in front of traffic, police said. Investigators do not suspect she was driving drunk.
