A 26-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after firing a gun during an argument with a family member while her 11-month-old child was home.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the home at the 7400 block of Silverdale Street in Widefield to investigate a reported shooting, and learned that the woman, Rachel Thompson had threatened her 24-year-old brother-in-law with a gun during an argument.
The gun went off as the brother-in-law pushed it away, deputies said.
Police said Thompson initially blocked them from entering but was eventually about 11 a.m.
Thompson was been booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on suspicion of menacing, child abuse and reckless endangerment.
