Witnesses hold down Colorado Springs kidnapping suspect

A Colorado Springs man suspected of kidnapping the mother of his children was held down by witnesses as the victim tried to escape, according to police reports.

Antwon Marna Yates, 29, was arrested on suspicion of felony kidnapping and domestic violence charges, records show.

Yates allegedly forced the woman into his car about 8 p.m. and drove away from the 500 block of Arrawanna Street, then assaulted her in the vehicle, police said.

The victim tried to escape when Yates allegedly stopped at an unknown location, but he overpowered the woman, police said.

After driving to a second place, the victim was able to get away and witnesses held Yates down until police arrived.

Yates was booked into the El Paso County jail and is being held without bond, records show.
