Howling winds that persisted throughout the week in Colorado Springs should die down this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

While Saturday is expected to be on the breezy side, especially during the afternoon, Sunday should be a "peaceful day," said meteorologist Stan Rose.

Chinook winds peaked at speeds of 53 mph late Friday morning, bringing mild temperatures and continuing a week-long trend of blustery weather that toppled trees and damaged homes.
