Lee Edward Riddle, 29, a teacher at Widefield High School, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, according to a news release by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office received information Friday alleging a possible sexual assault that occurred at the high school involving Riddle, the news release stated.

Widefield School District 3 spokeswoman Samantha Briggs said Riddle was placed on administrative leave on Friday immediately following notification by the sheriff's office of the allegations against Riddle.

A deputy assigned as the school's resource officer, as well as detectives from the sheriff's office, conducted an investigation and several interviews, Lt. Jeff Kramer said in the release. The investigation revealed that Riddle allegedly had inappropriate contact with more than one student.

Riddle has been a German language teacher at Widefield High School since 2009, Briggs said.

Riddle was booked into the El Paso County jail and held on a $25,000 bond, court records show.

Anyone with information can call the sheriff's office at 390-5555.
