What to watch on TV for the week of September 17 - A new Seinfeld special, ‘Gotham’ and ‘The Good Place’ return, and much more

Sunday 
“69th Primetime Emmy Awards” (6 p.m., CBS) - Stephen Colbert hosts the 69th annual gala from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. “Westworld” and “Saturday Night Live” lead all nominees with 22 each. 

“The Vietnam War” (7 p.m., PBS, Season Premiere) - The first installment of a 10-part, 18 hour history of the Vietnam War. After a long and brutal war, Vietnamese revolutionaries led by Ho Chi Minh end nearly a century of French colonial occupation. 

“Vice Principals” (8:30 p.m., HBO, Season Premiere) - In the season two premiere, Gamby recovers from his wounds but finds that North Jackson High School has changed dramatically during his absence. 

Monday 
“Dancing with the Stars” (7 p.m., ABC, Season Premiere) - The 25th season opener begins with 13 celebrities including former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens, singer Debbie Gibson, and “Shark Tank” investor Barbara Corcoran. 

“The State” (7 p.m., NatGeo, Season Premiere) - In the series premiere, four men and women cross into Syria under cover of darkness. Separated at the border, they’re driven to Raqqah, the de facto capital of the caliphate proclaimed by ISIS.

Tuesday
“Jerry Before Seinfeld” (Netflix) - In the hour-long special, Jerry Seinfeld returns to The Comic Strip in New York City for an intimate stand-up set at the club that helped launch his career. Interspersed with never-before-seen material - including a library of legal pads with every joke he's written since 1975, childhood videos, and more - Jerry performs the jokes that put him on the comedy map. 

“Conan Without Borders: Israel” (8 p.m., TBS) - Conan O’Brien travels to Israel where he visits Tel Avi and Jerusalem. Conan’s trips to foreign countries always prove entertaining so I’m looking forward to this.

Wednesday 
“Are You the One?” (8 p.m., MTV, Season Premiere) - 22 singles move into a house in New Orleans to try and pair up as 11 perfect matches and win $1,000,000.

“The Good Place” (9 p.m., NBC, Season Premiere) - In the season two premiere Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason - who’ve had their memories erased by ambitious master architect Michael - again settle into the Good Place. Eleanor discovers the one clue she left for herself, however, and attempts to piece things together. 

Thursday 
“OJ: Guilty in Vegas” (7 p.m., A&E, TV Special) - Ahead of O.J. Simpson’s upcoming release from prison, the A&E Network will premiere a two-hour special that tells the whole story around O.J.’s second arrest that led to his conviction for armed robbery.

“Gotham” (7 p.m., Fox, Season Premiere) - In the season four premiere, Gordon fears Jonathan Crane is still alive and back in Gotham when the Scarecrow’s signature MO is used in a series of robberies. 

Friday 
“Fuller House” (Netflix, Season Premiere) - Season three of this series is available on Netflix today. 

“Transparent” (Amazon, Season Premiere) - In the season four premiere, Maura heads to Israel to speak at a conference and makes a startling discovery.  Before long the rest of the family joins her for an explosive adventure.

Saturday 
“Assassin’s Creed” (6 p.m., HBO) - In this adaptation of the popular video game series, a death row convict relives his ancestor’s memories as an assassin in 15th century Spain. Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons star. 

“Ghost” (6 p.m., EPIX2) - Because sometimes you just need some Patrick Swayze in your life.
