Hopefully, Colorado Springs residents made the most of the weekend's sunny skies and warm temperatures, because the outlook for Monday and most of the week is cold, with snow and ice.

According to the National Weather Service, El Paso County may get up to 20 degrees on Monday, with temperatures dropping more than 30 degrees from one day to the next.

"We have an arctic front moving into the area, bringing with it thick, freezing clouds," said meterologist Larry Walrod.

"There will be a burst of snow late Sunday night and into Monday morning, and a second round of snowfall from Monday night to Tuesday morning."

Colorado Springs could see up to an inch of snow on the ground by the time Monday morning commuters hit the roads, Walrod said. The snow could start falling around 11 p.m. and a low of 13 degrees is in the forecast.

Walrod said the temperatures will likely fluctuate in the high teens throughout the Pikes Peak region.

Tuesday won't look much different, according to the weather service forecast. The expected high will be 26 for Colorado Springs, with an evening low of 15 and partly cloudy conditions.

"The artic front will stick around for about two days, then it will warm up considerably," Walrod said.

"We're expecting a high of 50 degrees by Wednesday."
