GIRLS' SOCCER

Class 4A

Quarterfinals

No. 4 D'Evelyn 1, No. 5 TCA 0

At Lakewood Memorial Field: The Classical Academy (15-2) won 13 consecutive games this year and didn't lose its first until the regular season finale against Valor Christian. In those 13 wins, the Titans outscored opponents 96-4. Before Wednesday, TCA had scored 104 goals and given up just eight.

When they needed one most, the Titans couldn't find the back of the net. D'Evelyn (14-3-1) needed just one goal on Wednesday, as the Jaguars ousted the Titans from the state playoffs with a tally that came midway through the second half.

Sophomore Anna Pampalone scored the game's lone goal, her second this season. The goal was the Jaguars' 48th this year.

The Titans will lose six seniors next year, including top scorer Hannah Burgo, who finished with 34 goals.

D'Evelyn will face No. 1 Valor Christian in the 4A semifinals on Saturday.

Class 3A

Quarterfinals

No. 6 The Academy 4, No. 3 Manitou Springs 0

At Manitou Springs: Alexis Loera notched a hat trick in the first half, scoring three consecutive goals in just over 10 minutes to give the Wildcats (16-1) an early 3-0 lead over the Mustangs (15-2), according to the Manitou Athletics Twitter account.

The Academy added another goal in the second to take a 4-0 lead, and the Wildcats pulled off the upset to end the Mustangs' season.

Wednesday's loss ended the Mustangs' deepest playoff run since 2013 when they were ousted by Peak to Peak, also in the quarterfinals.

The Academy will play No. 7 Kent Denver in the semifinals on Saturday.

GIRLS' LACROSSE

Class 4A

Quarterfinals

No. 6 Cherry Creek 19, No. 14 Air Academy 4

At Sutler Bowl, Greenwood Village: The Kadets (12-5) upset No. 3 Kent Denver 14-9 in the previous round to earn a matchup against 2016 runner-up Cherry Creek on Wednesday, but couldn't come up with another upset as Air Academy's season ended at the hands of the Bruins (14-3) for the second consecutive season.

The Bruins knocked the Kadets out of the playoffs in the second round a year ago.

The game was interrupted by a lightning delay with 19:18 left to play, but the Kadets were down 14-3 by then. Wednesday marked the Kadets' first quarterfinals appearance since 2014 when they won the 4A state championship over Cherry Creek.

Cherry Creek will play No. 2 Denver East in the semifinals on Saturday.
