Wednesday's prep roundup: Rampart routs Adams City

Rampart 72, Adams City 51

At Adams City: The Rams improved to 11-2, and stayed a perfect 3-0 in road games, behind 26 points in the first quarter.

Rampart outscored Adams City (4-7) in each quarter, including a 14-5 third quarter to open up a 19-point lead entering the fourth.

The Pikes Peak region 5A No. 1 Rams have won three games in a row - all by double digits.


Doherty 6, Liberty 1

At Sertich Ice Center: Ryan Lefebvere scored two goals and added an assist for Doherty, and Justyn Middlebrook had a goal and an assist for the No. 2 Spartans.

Michael Morton, Noah Johnston and Jordan Barrett each scored for Doherty (6-3), which led 2-1 after two periods before blowing the game open with four third-period goals. It was the Spartans' fourth straight win.

Andre Ogren scored the lone goal for Liberty (2-8-1) off an assist from Gunner Hleovas.

Air Academy 8, Coronado 0

At Sertich Ice Arena: Alec Ortiz scored a hat trick for No. 3 Air Academy, which scored six times in the second period.

Travis Hinton added two goals for the Kadets (4-5-1) and Mason Reiter tallied three assists.

Air Academy outshot Coronado (0-11) by a 38-6 margin.


Manitou Springs 95, St. Mary's Academy 75

At Manitou Springs: A pair of sophomores led the way for Manitou Springs, as Veronica Morin and Samantha White both swam very well for the Mustangs.

Morin won the 200-yard freestyle by almost 15 seconds in 2:00.95, and also won the 500 freestyle by a wide margin in 5:35.46.

White won the 50 freestyle in 25.85 seconds, and also took the 100 freestyle in 57.32 seconds.

All four times were 4A state-qualifying times for Morin and White, who also helped the 200 and 400 freestyle relays place first.

Manitou Springs' Kethrys Buffa won the 100 butterfly with a state-qualifying 1:03.30.


Doherty 42, Palmer 27

At Doherty: Doherty got pins from Collin Metzgar (106 pounds), Logan Hammarmeister (120), Gabe Maestas (138) and Brandon Supernaw (160).

Ian Havens (170) scored a tech fall and Daytwan Shirley (145) scored a 9-1 major decision for the Spartans, who won their third-straight dual.

Palmer got 24 of its 27 points off of four pins by Phoenix Barnhart (182), Richard Huff (195), Josiah Black (220) and Larry Black (285).

Discovery Canyon 44, Falcon 27

At Falcon: Discovery Canyon got 18 of its points off pins from Sam Turner (120), Canin Ritz (160) and Nick Duiker (285).

The Thunder received 10 points from tech falls by Spencer McCrary (126) and Tyler Oberg (145).

Falcon scored four wins by pin to score 24 of its 27 points. Jacob Vacha (106) and Dominick Richardson (220) each scored first-period pins, while Jonathan Charpenter (132) and John Lynch (152) won in the second period.

Air Academy 55, Sand Creek 9

At Air Academy: It was a one-sided affair, as the Kadets picked up 24 points via pin and 18 more on forfeits.

Ben Markworth (106) and Ben Self (220) each scored first-period pins, and Peter Hanenberg (126) and Cale Powers (132) won in the second period.

Sand Creek earned its points from a forfeit in the 182 class and a three-point decision by 120-pounder Tristan Knockel.

Pine Creek 64, Liberty 3

At Pine Creek: Pine Creek won its eighth dual in a row in dominant fashion over District 20 rival Liberty.

The Eagles got first-period pins from Anthony Salazar (113), Dustin Virgil (120) and Taylor White (220). Jordan Martinez (106) won by second-period pin and Chris Cos (145) secured an 18-2 tech fall for Pine Creek.

Liberty's lone points came from 195-pounder Kaid Beziou's 7-4 decision over Alexander Rathbun.

Cheyenne Mountain 42, Palmer Ridge 24

At Palmer Ridge: Cheyenne Mountain picked up 12 points on pins from Marquise Joseph (145) and James McCowen (182), both of which came in the second round. Ian Feign (113) added five points with his tech fall.

Palmer Ridge tallied 18 points from forfeits, while Jeremiah Grey (160) earned a pin just 28 seconds into his match against the Indians' Gilbert Archuleta.

Florence 45, Pueblo Centennial 29

At Florence: The Huskies picked up four wins by pin, including a 45-second victory by 170-pounder Lane Masar. Other Florence wrestlers to win by pin were Kameron Parker (160), Preston Sandoval (182) and Alberto Rodriguez (195).

Fountain-Fort Carson 67, Rampart 6

At Rampart: No stats were provided.


Liberty 58, Vista Ridge 37

At Liberty: The Lancers (5-5) started quickly and didn't look back, gaining a 13-6 first-quarter lead and expanding it to 26-12 at the half.

The win snaps a three-game losing streak for Liberty, while Vista Ridge (3-9) has dropped six of its past seven.
