Falcon 11, Palmer Ridge 7
At Palmer Ridge: Falcon (5-4, 3-1 4A Pikes Peak) used a five-run first inning Wednesday to avenge a 5-2 loss to Palmer Ridge (6-3, 4-1) from Tuesday.
Palmer Ridge answered with three runs in the bottom of the first, but Falcon built an 8-3 advantage before the Bears responded with two in the fourth. The Falcons scored three runs in the fifth to seal the victory and took advantage of five Palmer Ridge errors.
Falcon pounded out 14 hits and tagged Bears starter Jake Weems for nine runs in four innings before he was relieved.
No statistics were available for Falcon.
Widefield 28, Mitchell 0
At Spurgeon Field: Widefield (5-6, 2-0 4A Metro) had 17 hits and allowed one hit to win its second consecutive game 28-0.
Jake Volcic and Koree Green teamed for the five-inning one-hitter on the mound, never allowing a runner past first base, and the Gladiators pounded out 11 doubles. Steven Villafan was 4 for 5 with four RBIs, and Isaiah Volcic went 3 for 6 and also drove in four.
Jake Volcic drove in four runs as well with a pair of doubles. Widefield has won two in a row after a four-game skid.
Mitchell fell to 0-7 and 0-2 in league play.
Doherty def. Rampart 5-2
At Doherty: The No. 3 doubles tandem of seniors Kendall Rea and Jenna Rochelle clinched Doherty's come-from-behind dual victory with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Sydney Turner and Erin Majerus.
Kylie Simons put Doherty up 1-0 with a No. 1 singles win, but Rampart freshmen Delaney Wilklow and Jamie Smith gave the Rams the lead with back-to-back wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Doherty responded by sweeping doubles play, including a pair of three-set battles. Kylie Hylton and Bronte Daly dropped their first set against the Rams' Christina Mandico and Elisabeth Walsh at No. 2 doubles before winning the match 6-1, 6-2 in the final two sets.
St. Mary's def. Colorado Springs School 5-2
At St. Mary's: St. Mary's used a trio of straight-set victories and two forfeit wins to earn its first dual victory.
St. Mary's had forfeit victories at No. 1 singles and No. 4 doubles and coupled those with wins at the first three doubles positions en route to the win.
Sarah Nelson put Colorado Springs School on the board with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Morgan Chilton at No. 2 singles, and Maddy Hocate won her No. 3 singles match against the Pirates' Jaime Gray 6-2, 6-4.
Lewis-Palmer 93, Air Academy 80
At Air Academy: Hunter Bains won two individual events and helped a pair of Lewis-Palmer relay squads touch the wall first.
Bains won the 100 free in 47.17 seconds and the 200 free in 1:46.43, then swam with a trio of teammates to take the 200 free relay in 1:31.96 and the 400 free relay in 3:15.94.
Hunter Doerr and Caleb Hicks paced Air Academy by claiming two individual events apiece. Doerr won the 50 free in 21.76 and the 100 backstroke in 56.31, and Hicks was victorious in the 100 butterfly (52.95) and the 200 individual medley (1:58.71).
Doherty 105, Rampart 80
At Doherty: Brady Chewakin won a pair of individual events and was part of two victorious relay teams for Doherty.
Chewakin won the 50 freestyle in 23.48 seconds and also touched the wall first in the 100 free at 53.17. He was also part of the Spartans' 200 medley relay squad that finished in 1:47.17 and the winning 200 free relay quartet in 1:35.93.
Erik Hensle and Andrew Weiss each won two events for Rampart, but it was not enough. Hensle's victories came in the 100 butterfly (58.03) and 200 individual medley (2:17.85). Weiss won the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.49 and the 500 free in 5:07.06.
Tri-Peaks League tourney
At Hollydot Golf Course: Mattie Schwall's 83 helped Manitou Springs win the team title with a 288 total, and teammate McKenzie Petricko was third with a 96.
St. Mary's finished second at 306, thanks in part to Sarah Hwang's 89 that put her second to Schwall. The Classical Academy was third at 353, with James Irwin fifth at 374.
