Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst's Daniel O'Donoghue and Ryan Misiak each scored two goals to lead the Lakers to an 8-2 win over Air Force in an Atlantic Hockey Association game Saturday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. The loss snaps Air Force's five-game winning streak as the Falcons fall to 5-3, 3-1 in the AHA. Mercyhurst improved to 2-5-1, 1-0.
Air Force scored twice in the first period, including the first goal just 1:17 in on senior Mitch Torre's first career goal. However, Mercyhurst scored three times before Jason Fabian, who assisted on the first goal, passed to Ryan Timar for a goal to cut the lead to 3-2.
Mercyhurt scored twice in the second period, after which goalie Jason Torf was replaced by junior Paul Moberg.
That didn't stop the Lakers who scored two quick goals early in the third period. Chris Truehl played the final 16;25 in net for the Falcons, not allowing a goal until seven seconds were left.
"Mercyhurst is a very good team," coach Frank Serratore said. "We expended a ton of energy last night at RIT and tonight we were reacting.
"We haven't had many games over the years that have gone like this. It was just a frustrating, disappointing night."
