Gazette Premium Content Water-boil advisory ongoing in Manitou

By Andrea Sinclair Updated: September 20, 2013 at 7:04 am

Manitou Springs is under a boil-water advisory due to a broken water main.

Although the 10-inch line at the city’s west water tank was expected to be repaired Thursday, officials were concerned that contaminants could have entered the drinking water supply.

The city has not received reports of people being sick, said city spokesman Dave Hunting.

Residents are advised to not drink tap water without boiling it, according to the city’s advisory. Water should be allowed to boil for 3 minutes, then cooled before using.

Until further notice, boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food.
