In the Stairwell, the Air Force Academy-based a cappella group, passed its second test on "America's Got Talent" with flying colors Tuesday and is headed to live rounds next week.

The all-male cadet singing group performed a rendition of NSYNC's "Bye Bye Bye," impressing judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B, Howie Mandel and special guest Seal in the final judge cuts episode of "America's Got Talent."

Drawing a standing ovation led by Seal, In the Stairwell advanced to the live rounds. which begin next Tuesday in Los Angeles, Air Force officials say.

The group was formed in 2004 by freshman cadets who were not allowed to sing in their dormitories and were restricted to practicing in the stairwell.

In the Stairwell now is an official club that sings a range of tunes, from contemporary hits to the national anthem.
In the Stairwell received praise from  Mandel and television series host Tyra Banks praised In the Stairwell, as did the group’s Air Force family.

“We feel they represent the best and the brightest of the cadets that we have here at the Academy,” AFA spokesman Meade Warthen told The Gazette in June.
