Colorado Springs police recovered a loaded handgun and several bags of suspected methamphetamine Wednesday from a man wanted on an arrest warrant, according to police reports.

Michael Nysen, 46, was arrested on suspicion of distribution of illegal drugs and possession of a firearm by a previous offender, records show.

A patrolling officer noticed a vehicle parked in front of a closed business about 3 a.m. Wednesday on the 4200 block of East Platte Ave. and contacted the occupant, later identified as Nysen.

Police confirmed there was a felony arrest warrant for Nysen and recovered a loaded firearm in his possession, police said.

A search of Nysen's vehicle, police said, yielded drug paraphernalia and several baggies of suspected methamphetamine, police said.
