Three-time beach volleyball Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings was a triple threat at the Peak Vista Community Health Centers Foundation Breakfast of Champions at The Broadmoor International Hall on Wednesday.
Walsh was not only the keynote speaker but she also pledged $10,000 from her foundation and offered a clinic to the highest fundraising bidder.
Walsh told the usual packed crowd that she is excited to go for her fourth gold medal in 2016, albeit without retired partner Misty May Treanor. She spoke of the champion within everyone and about the need to go outside your usual comfort levels to achieve greatness in any field.
Jennings, who markets herself as "Six feet of sunshine", and stands about 6-foot-3, took off her shoes while speaking and trying to get comfortable in front of the crowd that came to see her and support Peak Vista.
A video of her achievements was played and she referenced another video her husband had made that, along with using a sports psychologist, helped give her and Treanor the boost needed to win gold in London in 2012.
The Gazette was a media sponsor of the event.
