photo - When Oso came to the Humane Society, he was struggling to get around in a homemade wheelchair. The three-year-old Bassett Hound mix was hit by a motorcycle and doesn't have the use of his back legs. Oso was brought to the Humane Society from a partner rescue in Southern Colorado. Now he has a new wheelchair built just for him and he's ready to be adopted by just the right owner. Because of his disability, Oso has to wear a diaper that needs to be changed 3-4 times a day. He has adapted well to the wheelchair and can chase a tennis ball and go for a walk like any other dog. He plays with a tennis ball with a staff member of the Humane Society on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. For a closer look at Oso in action, there's an online video that is informational about the care that is needed to take care of this dog. (The Gazette/Jerilee Bennett)
