VIDEO: Timeline of events: Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooting

A shooter at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood office killed three people and wounded nine others in an hours-long standoff that began the morning of Nov. 27. Here are key moments from throughout the day:

11:38 a.m.: Police get first call on an active shooter near Planned Parenthood, 3480 Centennial Blvd.

About 12:05 p.m.: One officer said on his radio that the gunman shot out the back window of his cruiser as the officer tried to "get a look at him." A dispatcher said the gunman wore a long coat with a "hunting-type" hat.

About 12:10 p.m.: At least one victim taken by stretcher to an ambulance. Three police officers seen with guns drawn pointed their weapons in the vicinity of Planned Parenthood.

About 12:15 p.m.: Police closed Centennial Boulevard in both directions and customers were locked down at a King Soopers grocery store and several nearby shops at Fillmore Street and Centennial Boulevard.

12:31 p.m.: Scanner traffic indicated at least two officers were down and another taken by ambulance to a hospital. A dispatcher said one patient was wounded at Elite Vision, located an adjacent building at 3470 Centennial Blvd.

12:36 p.m.: Colorado Springs Police report that Centennial Boulevard is closed between Garden of the Gods Road and Fillmore Street.

12:45 p.m. Police communicate by cellphone with three people trapped in a bathroom closet inside Planned Parenthood.

12:54 p.m.: At least three officers are injured, with no word on their conditions.

1:43 p.m. Between Colorado Springs Police Department, El Paso Sheriff's Office and State Patrol, "we are using all of our resources," said spokeswoman Lt. Catherine Buckley.

2:08 p.m.: Reported on the police scanner: "Multiple shots fired, automatic gunfire coming from the building."

2:21 p.m.: Police ask for a sniper. Another victim is unloaded from a stretcher into an ambulance.

2:38 p.m. Police actively engaged with the shooter inside the Planned Parenthood clinic, Buckley said. Police confirm that a fourth officer has been injured; Buckley had no guess as to how many civilians have been injured.

3:03 p.m. Penrose Hospital confirmed six shooting victims were admitted; Memorial confirmed it admitted three shooting victims.

3:17 p.m. Police confirm that officers and the suspect have exchanged gunfire inside the Planned Parenthood building.

4:52 p.m.: The suspect surrenders to police.

7 p.m. Buckley confirms two civilians and UCCS police officer Garrett Swasey died in Friday's shooting. Four civilians and five officers were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds.

7:30 p.m. UCCS confirms that Garrett Swasey, 44, a six-year veteran of the UCCS Police Department, was killed.

9:10 p.m. A law enforcement source confirms to The Gazette that Robert Lewis Dear has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
