Vice President Mike Pence will speak in Colorado Springs on April 16 as part of the 34th Space Symposium, the Springs-based Space Foundation announced Monday.
Pence will speak at noon that day during a special presentation before the Space Symposium's opening ceremony.
"The vice president's participation at the symposium indicates the priority this White House is placing on America's position in space," Space Foundation CEO Thomas E. Zelibor said in a news release.
The Space Symposium takes place April 16-19 at The Broadmoor hotel on the Springs' southwest side. The conference, sponsored by the nonprofit Space Foundation, is considered the world's premier gathering of space professionals.
This year, the Space Foundation expects more than 9,000 attendees from around the world, including speakers, exhibitors, educators, students, government officials, defense contractors and members of the news media.
