ASPEN — The USA Pro Challenge is getting started with a loop from Aspen to Snowmass Village.
The bicycling race featuring Tour de France champion Chris Froome begins at 1:05 p.m. Monday. It will shut down Colorado Highway 82 between the towns from noon until around 4 p.m.
Alternate routes to avoid the race are Highway 82 over Independence Pass, U.S. Highway 24 and Interstate 70.
On Tuesday, the racers will head over Independence Pass to Twin Lakes, Buena Vista, Fairplay and Breckenridge.
The race ends Sunday in Denver.
The race, in its third year, will not make a stop in Colorado Springs after coming through the city its first two years.Click here for a detailed schedule of when the riders should be passing through individual locations, which could experience traffic delays.
