A Colorado Springs man died on a highway in Teller County on Sunday morning after his truck hit a bus full of teens head on.

The man, 42-year-old Glenn Crow, was driving eastbound in westbound lanes on Colorado 24 when he collided with the bus and then a guard rail, according to a Colorado State Patrol press release.

Crow, who was not wearing a seat belt, was declared dead on scene, troopers said.

Eight of the bus' 52 passengers were transported to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs and treated for minor injuries.

All were released from the hospital by early afternoon, said Jeff Myers, president of Manitou Springs-based Summit Ministries, which was using the bus to transport teenage conference participants to a white-water rafting excursion in Buena Vista.

"All are fine," he said. "No broken bones or lacerations. Just some bumps and bruises. We're very, very grateful."

Students come from all over the country to participate in the 12-day conference, intended to prepare them to defend their faith in college, Myers said.

Everyone on the bus was aware that the man who hit them died, and some were still shaken up, Myers said.

"Some of them are quite sad," he said. "They really felt awful for the poor man. They felt worse for him than did they did for themselves for having been injured. They're a compassionate bunch."

The rafting trip has been canceled, "but we'll find some other fun things to do," Myers said.

Myers planned to speak to excursion participants during a Sunday-evening service, he said.
