A 21-year-old man was shot and killed Friday morning in southeastern Colorado Springs.

Police were called to the 4500 block of Jetwing Circle just after 2 a.m. to investigate a report of a disturbance. Just before they arrived at the scene, officers received a report that a man had been shot.

The man was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his wounds, police spokeswoman Barbara Miller said.

Detectives have identified a "person of interest," police said. But no other details were released as the investigation is ongoing. Numerous witnessesW were being interviewed Friday morning.

Miller said an autopsy will be performed by the El Paso County Coroner's office Saturday. If the shooting is ruled a homicide, it would be the 18th in Colorado Springs in 2013. There were 12 in the city at the same time in 2012.

Anyone with information that could help with the investigation should call 444-7000.
