Fountain fire crews are battling a blaze that destroyed an abandoned home and shut Jimmy Camp Road, east of U.S. 85/87, in both directions for over an hour.

The vacant home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived about 10 a.m. at the 10000 block of Jimmy Camp Road, north of East Ohio Avenue, said Fountain Fire Chief Darin Anstine.

"There are no utilities hooked up to the house and it was already in such bad shape that we decided to attack the fire from the outside, I didn't send any of my guys in," Anstine said.

Fire investigators will try to determine the cause of the blaze after it is extinguished, Anstine said.
