The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team will continue the most successful season in program history in the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball South Central Region Tournament. The Mountain Lions will be the No. 8 seed after the announcement of the teams Sunday night in the NCAA Selection Show.

UCCS will face No. 1 seed Metro State on its home court in the Auraria Event Center in Denver. It will be the third matchup between the teams in 15 days and a rematch of the RMAC Shootout Championship game. The game will tip at 6 p.m. Saturday.

"I'm proud of our guys and what they have earned," UCCS coach Jeff Culver said. "They have fought and competed in one of the toughest conferences in Division?II, and we're excited that we have the opportunity to continue our season in the NCAA Tournament."

The Mountain Lions have won a program-record 21 games and advanced past the RMAC Shootout quarterfinal round for the first time. Men's basketball is the fifth team sport at UCCS to qualify for NCAA postseason.

Metro State has reached NCAA postseason 18 times, including 16 since 1998, most of anyone during that span. The Roadrunners are 38-15 (.717) in NCAAs with national titles in 2000 and 2002.
