A concert on Wednesday at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs will honor an instructor killed in a weekend traffic accident.
The concert, in observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, will begin at 6 p.m. in the University Center's upper plaza with a 2013 UCCS graduate, Ryan Flores, performing Tango-infused music.
The headline act, Jacque Lynn Herrera, a bilingual act from the San Francisco bay area, will take the stage at 7 p.m.
Student managers at web-based UCCS Radio will dedicate the concert in Marge Mistry's honor. It is free and open to the public. Parking is free in lot 4 between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m.
Mistry, a senior instructor in UCCS' languages and culture department, died Sept. 13 from injuries sustained during a crash on Highway 115, near her home in Penrose.
Mistry, 75, taught Spanish at UCCS beginning in 1991, following her retirement from Colorado Springs School District 11, where she taught at Mitchell High School.
She founded a UCCS chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, Spanish national honorary society, last spring.
