U.S. 24 closed Monday near Peyton

U.S. Highway 24 will be closed 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday near the area where workers are replacing the Black Squirrel Creek Bridge, known as the Green Bridge, the Colorado Department of Transportation said.

The temporary road that has served as a detour around the bridge construction has failed in numerous places so it will be overlayed to reduce the need for asphalt patch work.

During the one-day overlay project by Lawrence Construction, westbound traffic will be detoured onto Peyton Highway, then Judge Orr Road to U.S. 24. Eastbound traffic will take the same detour in the opposite direction.
