Two people were killed in a crash Tuesday evening on U.S. 50 just east of the Royal Gorge, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The crash, near mile marker 271, killed the drivers of the two vehicles involved, according to Trooper Nate Reid. One of the vehicles caught fire as a result of the crash.

Reid said he wasn't immediately aware of any road closures near the crash and did not say if there were additional victims.
