Two families were displaced as a result of a fire at a Colorado Springs apartment complex.

Neighbors reported the fire on a second-floor balcony at The Knolls at Sweetgrass Apartments on Gatehouse Circle S. The neighbors called 911 and woke the family living in the unit.

One of the families includes three adults, two dogs and a bird. The other family has two adults, one child and two dogs.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced families in finding a place to live.
