A rollover on Interstate 25 near the Cimarron exit and another crash near Powers Boulevard and Research Parkway slowed the Friday morning commute.

The rollover crash on southbound I-25 blocked the left southbound lanes and the left northbound lane. And the crash on Powers forced traffic in the southbound lanes to detour for about an hour.

Colorado Springs police reported that one driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the Powers crash.

Lt. Jeff Jensen, with the CSPD Stetson Hills Division, said a white pickup truck hit a grey volkswagen shortly before 7:30 a.m., causing it to roll over. Jensen said firefighters rushed to Powers and had to extricate the driver of the car. The crash was cleared and traffic returned to normal at about 8:30 a.m., Jensen said.

Nobody was injured in the I-25 crash, a spokesman at the CSPD Gold Hill Division said. That crash happened shortly before 6 a.m. and had parts of the Interstate closed until about 7 a.m. A white and a van were involved in the crash, police said. The van apparently flipped after hitting the concrete barrier in the center of the highway.
