Two crashes slow down commuters on Woodmen Road

Two car crashes near the same intersection are slowing down Wednesday morning commuters on Woodmen Road, near the intersection with Interstate 25.

Colorado Springs police reported the first crash happened at 7:28 a.m. on East Woodmen Road and Vincent Drive, blocking a westbound lane on Woodmen Road. It involved two vehicles but there no injuries, Lt. John Godsey said.

The second wreck happened only minutes later at 7:40 a.m., when two vehicles collided on East Woodmen Road and Campus Drive. The crash involved a silver Volkswagen Passat and a maroon Jeep. The cars blocked the left westbound lane of Woodmen Road, but have since been moved to the right side of the road.

One driver was treated for a head injury, Godsey said.

Traffic has slowed down in the area and drivers should consider alternate routes, police said.
