A Colorado Springs couple have been identified as the main suspects in three bank robberies after their arrest in connection with the break-in of an ATM in Pueblo.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said Casey T. Fernau, 28 and Emma K. Lasek, 22, are in custody on $500,000 bonds, police spokeswoman Barbara Miller said.

Fernau and Lasek were taken into custody Friday in Pueblo after an attempted break-in of an ATM, police said.

According to CSPD, Fernau and Lasek had been the focus of an ongoing investigation for two bank robberies, one attempted bank robbery and a car-jacking over the past month.

Fernau and Lasek are the main suspects in the aggravated robbery of the Key Bank at 3605 Hartsel Dr., on May 10; attempted aggravated robbery of the TCF Bank at 5470 E. Woodmen Rd., on June 2; and aggravated robbery of the TCF Bank at 7239 N. Academy Blvd., on June 2, police said.

CSPD Sgt. Dale Fox said Fernau was armed with a handgun during each of the alleged robberies, while Lasek was identified as the getaway driver in each case.

Both will also be charged with the armed car-jacking robbery of a woman on May 10, right before the robbery of Key Bank and a motor vehicle theft when police said they stole a motorcycle on June 2, before the TCF Bank robberies, Miller said.

Police additionally accused Lasek of intentionally deploying a military-grade smoke grenade near the intersection of Woodmen Road and Lexington Drive on May 10 as a diversion while Fernau allegedly robbed the Key Bank.
