Viewers of KXRM/Fox 21 will notice a new face covering sports beginning this week. Say hello to Julia Maguire, the station’s new weekend sports anchor. Maguire comes to Colorado Springs from KREX-TV, a CBS affiliate in Grand Junction where she worked as a sports reporter and anchor.
“I covered local high school and collegiate sports all across Western Colorado, and even made trips over the hill to report live at Mile High during the Denver Broncos season,” said Maguire. “A highlight of my time in Grand Junction comes from covering the 2017 Division I Junior College World Series, hosted in Grand Junction each May. I also spent a season covering the Grand Junction Rockies, the rookie-level affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, and Colorado Mesa University's run to the Division II 2017 World Series.”
Maguire, a New England sports fan who was born in raised in Rhode Island, is a graduate of Rhode Island College. Her first day at Fox 21 is Wednesday, April 11.
“Julia is a great addition to the Fox 21 Sports team,” said news director Joe Cole. “Since she worked on the Western Slope at our sister station in Grand Junction she already has extensive knowledge of Colorado sports including covering the Broncos.”
