In September local NBC affiliate KOAA-TV saw the departure of chief meteorologist Stephen Bowers. The station didn’t have to look far to find his replacement. KOAA recently announced that Sam Schreier, who has been with the nation since 2016, has been promoted to Bowers spot and will join the “News5 Today” morning team. Schreier will work alongside anchors Ira Cronin and Brie Groves Monday through Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m.
“Sam is a great fit for the morning team,” says KOAA5 news director, Ryan Hazelwood. “He has an infectious, friendly and energetic personality, which is balanced nicely with a solid science background. Sam loves telling the daily weather and traffic stories, and he’s on top of his game when conditions are at their worst.”
With Schreier replacing Bowers, KOAA is still left with a meteorologist opening. The station is currently looking for someone to fill the position.
