Air Academy 157, Cheyenne Mountain 157
At Air Academy: Two-time Class 4A defending champion Air Academy won seven of 12 events, including all three relays, but 4A Cheyenne Mountain's depth helped the Indians end the meet in a tie.
Michael Loyd, Hunter Doerr and Brennan Mays each won one event and had a hand in two relay wins for the Kadets.
Five swimmers won the Indians' five events, including diver Mason Macura and Jerry Birnbaum. The Indians took two of the top three spots in six individual events.
Lewis-Palmer 126, Liberty 60
At Lewis-Palmer: Lewis-Palmer won nine of 12 events, led by Phillip Riegert's wins in the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle.
Riegert als had a hand in the 200-medley relay and 400-freestyle relay victories.
Three swimmers won events for the Lancers.
Fountain-Fort Carson 104, Pueblo East 77; F-FC 99, Pueblo County 77
At Fountain-Fort Carson: With such a young squad, Fountain-Fort Carson coach John Rork decided to give his players a chance to show what they could do.
To his joy, they responded, as the Trojans swept the double dual against Pueblo East and Pueblo County.
"Pretty pleased," Rork said. "We've got a lot of young kids that don't have a lot of swimming experience. We ... gave our more experienced guys an event off just to see what some of the younger kids could do, and they came through pretty good."
Freshman Brenan Bloyd won the 100 backstroke and the 100 freestyle over both Pueblo teams and Bradley Switzer added a double win in the 100 breaststroke for the Trojans.
The Trojans won both the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 free relay. Bloyd swam in the 400 free relay.
Cheyenne Mountain 1, Doherty 0
At Cheyenne Mountain: Class 4A Pikes Peak region No. 1 Cheyenne Mountain (2-0-1) topped 5A No. 3 Doherty (1-2).
No stats were reported by the time this edition went to press.
Manitou Springs 10, James Irwin 0
At Manitou Springs: Class 3A No. 3 Manitou Springs (1-0) scored five goals in each half to end the game early against James Irwin (0-1).
Kaity Vogel and Riley Witham each notched hat tricks for the Mustangs, while Katie McKiel scored twice.
Pueblo West 4, Canon City 1
At Canon City: Maria Abraas scored Canon City's lone goal, but the Tigers (1-1, 0-1 4A South Central) fell to Pueblo West (1-1, 1-0) in both team's league openers.
Kara Sallie made four saves for the Tigers.
Denver South 1, Fountain-Fort Carson 0
At Fountain-Fort Carson: A wind-aided shot carried the game's only goal across the Fountain-Fort Carson goal line, as Denver South (1-0) shut out the Trojans (0-1).
