Liberty 3, Doherty 1
At D-20 Stadium: Klinton Spencer made sure one mistake wouldn't once again bury 5A Pikes Peak region No. 3 Liberty (8-6-1 overall, 4-1-0 5A Colorado Springs Metro League) against No. 2 Doherty (8-5-1, 3-2-0).
The senior made sure to pad the lead with his 15th and 16th goals of the season, and the Lancers clinched second in the league and a guaranteed spot in the 5A playoffs a year after an own-goal against the Lancers nearly dropped them out of postseason contention.
Spencer scored his first off a corner kick and drilled a penalty kick for his second. Ryan Kenyon scored the other goal and Parker Wells finished with two assists for the Lancers.
Meanwhile, Doherty finished the season third in league and will have to wait and see if it will grab one of the final 32 spots in the 5A playoffs.
Palmer 4, Fountain-Fort Carson 1
At Fountain-Fort Carson: Efrain Adames scored three times and Palmer (9-4-2 overall, 2-2-1 5A CSML) won for the first time in October.
Dominic Goecker also scored for the Terrors.
Meanwhile, Fountain-Fort Carson (3-12, 0-5) finished its season on a 10-game losing streak.
Mitchell 2, Widefield 0
At Mitchell: Mitchell (9-6) scored once in each half, Jesus Santos grabbed the shutout and the Marauders beat Widefield (10-5) for the second time this season.
Mitchell won the league crown earlier this season and the Gladiators came in second.
Vanguard 10, Evangelical Christian Academy 0
At Vanguard: Larry Gill played 40 minutes in goal and the other 7 minutes of the shortened game on the field where he scored a goal and added an assist for Vanguard (9-4-1).
Tyler Williams scored three goals and Caleb Simons added two in the rout.
ECA (0-15) finished the season without a win.
Valor Christian 51, Palmer 0
At Palmer: In a David-versus-Goliath matchup, Palmer couldn't upset powerhouse Valor Christian.
Quarterback Mason Lopez completed only one pass, Barry Thomas had the lone 49-yard reception and the Terrors ran for 69 yards on 30 carries in the rout.
Valor has defeated area schools 133-6 in three games this season.
Sand Creek 54, Rampart 13
At Rampart: Micheal DeCarmo ran for three touchdowns, Jordan Preston caught one TD and returned another off a kickoff and Sand Creek (6-2 overall, 3-2 4A Pikes Peak) scored 40-unanswered points to beat Rampart (3-5, 2-3) on Thursday night.
Kyle Schinkel had a 35-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown and Kai Daniels also added another TD catch in a second half where dominated by the Scorpions, who outscored the Rams 26-0.
Rampart closed the deficit to 14-13 early in the second quarter before Preston and DeCarmo answered with scores for Sand Creek before the half to make it 28-13.
"We played pretty good, and did things even better in the second half," Sand Creek coach Rod Baker said. "We made a lot of good steps tonight."
The Scorpions lost to Pine Creek 70-27 the week before.
Doherty def. Liberty 25-22, 25-17, 25-21
At Doherty: Haleigh Washington had 19 kills, Gabby Simpson had 12 kills and 5A No. 1 Doherty (15-3 overall, 4-0 5A CSML) grabbed its second sweep in a row.
The Spartans, who went undefeated last season, are regaining their footing after losing consecutive games in late September.
Since then, they are 5-0.
On the other side, Jenna Stoffel did her best to contain Washington's and Simpson's thunderous shots with nine digs and 19 returned serves for Liberty (8-10, 2-4).
The Lancers ended their season with three consecutive losses.
Cheyenne Mountain def. Palmer Ridge 25-13, 25-12, 25-21
At Cheyenne Mountain: After falling to Lewis-Palmer on Thursday and coming in second in league for the second straight season, 4A No. 1 Cheyenne Mountain (15-2 overall, 6-1 4A Pikes Peak) got back to its winning ways.
Mara Barkley had 10 kills, and Bethany Cullity added 12 digs and three aces in a commanding victory over Palmer Ridge.
The Bears (10-6, 4-3) have lost to Air Academy and Cheyenne Mountain this week after winning four straight matches.
Lewis-Palmer def. Discovery Canyon 25-14, 25-10, 25-8
At Discovery Canyon: 4A No. 2 Lewis-Palmer (17-1 overall, 7-0 4A Pikes Peak) followed up its thrilling win over Cheyenne Mountain to clinch league on Tuesday with a dominating victory over Discovery Canyon (7-10, 3-4) on Thursday.
Alexa Smith had 21 kills, while Haley McCurley and Nicole Montgomery combined for 23 kills for the Rangers.
Colorado Springs School def. Peyton 25-21, 28-26, 25-17
At Colorado Springs School: Seniors Maddy Mason had 17 kills, Kendra Baucom had 13 and Jessica Eades had 12, and 3A and below No. 2 CSS (18-1 overall, 8-1 2A Black Forest) beat Peyton (14-5, 6-3) in straight sets for the second time this season.
Peyton was led by Lindsey Area's eight kills and Vaden Holmes' seven kills.
The two teams combined for 190 digs in the three-set match.
Coronado def. Mesa Ridge 25-20, 25-20, 24-26, 25-23
At Coronado: Sophomores Madison Brown and Kaira Smith combined for 31 kills and Coronado (14-4 overall, 9-0 CSML) won their ninth match in 10 tries.
Mesa Ridge's Ipo Achiu had 14 kills and Kylee Shook had 12 kills in the loss.
Coronado had 84 digs to the Grizzlies' 44.
Colorado Springs Christian School def. The Classical Academy 25-7, 25-16, 25-16
At CSC: Abby Skrastins had 16 kills, 15 digs and four aces, and Maddy Stephens added 13 kills as CSCS (9-9 overall, 8-3 Tri Peaks West) swept 3A and below No. 3 TCA (10-9, 9-3).
The Lions have won three of their last four matches.
Falcon def. Vista Ridge 25-16, 25-22, 25-19
At Falcon: Rebekah Feola had 12 kills and Falcon (6-9 overall, 2-5 4A PPAC) snapped its three-game skid.
Vista Ridge (6-16, 1-6) has lost eight of nine.
