Thursday's prep roundup: Air Academy boys' soccer racks up eight goals in win, remains unbeaten at 10-0

VOLLEYBALL

Colorado Springs Christian School 3, Vanguard 0

At Vanguard: Vanguard kept it close in the first set, but CSCS ran away with the 3A Tri-Peaks match, winning the final two sets by a score of 25-12. Christa Vogt led the Lions (7-4, 6-1) with nine kills and five blocks.

Vanguard falls to 5-9 on the season and 1-4 in Tri-Peaks play.

Pueblo West 3, St. Mary's 0

At Pueblo West: Seneca Hackley, Emily Wilcox and Alexa LaMack each had five kills in the 25-15, 25-13, 25-11 win, and the Pirates (4-8 overall) suffered their third consecutive loss in the nonconference match.

Pueblo West improved to 10-1 overall and extended its winning streak to six.

Discovery Canyon 3, Falcon 0

At Falcon: Leah Lester led with 10 kills and 10 digs and teammate Hannah Pethtel contributed with nine kills to lift the Thunder 25-12, 25-18, 25-13 in the PPAC opener.
Discovery Canyon improved to 6-5 overall, while Falcon dropped to 4-5.
FOOTBALL
Evergreen 20, Falcon 6
At Evergreen: The Falcons scored a touchdown in the second quarter but couldn't overcome a 13-point rally by Evergreen in the second half of the nonconference game.
Falcon dropped to 0-5, and Evergreen improved to 4-1.

BOYS' SOCCER

Liberty 3, Coronado 0

At Liberty: Caleb Norwood did the heavy lifting for the Lancers by scoring a hat trick to lock in the team’s first 5A Colorado Springs Metro League win of the season.

Norwood scored three times on six shots, while keeper Luke Price and Nicholas Kuykendall combined for the shutout.

Air Academy 8, Palmer Ridge 0

At Palmer Ridge: Luke Louthan earned a hat trick and four other Kadets scored in the shutout win.

Air Academy remains unbeaten at 10-0 overall and 2-0 in the 5A/4A Pikes Peak Athletics Conference standings.

The Kadets led only 2-0 at halftime before exploding to six more goals in the second half, thanks to two goals from Aiden Schwenke and a goal apiece from Calvin Yocum, Thaddaeus Dewing and Jacob Martino.

Fountain Valley 1, St. Mary's 0

At St. Mary's: The Danes scored in the first half and held on to win in the 3A TPL game.

Fountain Valley improved to 4-4-1 overall and 2-1 in league play, and the Pirates dropped to 6-3 and 1-1.

Manitou Springs 2, Vanguard 1

At Vanguard: Ryan Bergsten and Seamus Lowe each scored a goal in the 3A TPL game to improve to 2-1 and 8-2-1 overall.

Meanwhile, Vanguard dropped to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Rampart 10, Palmer 0

At D-20 Stadium: The Rams scored four goals in the first half, and then added six more after halftime in the dominating win.

Rampart improved to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the CSML standings, while Palmer dropped to 2-8 and 0-1.

Pine Creek 2, Fountain-Fort Carson 0

At F-FC: Mitch Frost and Jimmy Laucirica each knocked in a goal in the second half to lift the Eagles to their second win of the season.

The Trojans dropped to 2-6-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the CSML, and Pine Creek improved to 2-5-2 and 1-1-0.

TCA 4, Elizabeth 0

At TCA: Jonny Stephens had two goals, and Eli Grant and Elias Ponce each added a score to lift The Classical Academy to a 7-1 overall record and 2-0 in the 4A CSML standings.

Colorado Springs Christian 5, Salida 4

At Salida: The Lions scored three goals in the first and added two more in the second to take the 3A TPL win, improving to 3-0 and 6-2 overall.

Vista Ridge 8, Falcon 4

At Falcon: The Wolves led 3-2 at halftime before exploding for five goals in the second half in the 5A/4A PPAC game.

Vista Ridge improved to 3-7-0 and 1-1-0 in league play, and Falcon fell to 2-6-1 and 0-2-0.
