Three people were arrested on suspicion of burglary and trespassing Monday after Colorado Springs police said they had broken into a condemned house and started several small fire pits inside.

James Fahey, 38, Daniel Garcia, 29, and Yvonne Vigil, were booked into the El Paso County jail Monday, court records show.

Officers dispatched to the home on the 1000 block of Rainier Drive shortly before 9 p.m. saw flashlights inside and received reports of a male trying to enter through a window, police said.

Fahey and Vigil came out of the house after police set up a perimeter and a K-9 officer was sent in to find the alleged burglars. Garcia was found hiding in the garage, police said.

Fire crews smothered several small fire pits that had been started throughout the house, filling it with thick smoke, police said.
