Three killed in head-on crash near Durango

A head-on crash Tuesday morning in front of the Glacier Club on U.S. Highway 550 closed the road in both directions. Multiple people were involved and a helicopter was on scene. (Jerry McBride, Durango Herald) 

HERMOSA – Three people were killed in a head-on collision Wednesday morning just south of the entrance to Glacier Club on U.S. Highway 550, about 14 miles north of Durango, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Three additional patients were taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries, emergency responders said.

The crash occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. in the 40000 block of U.S. Highway 550. The highway was closed in both directions and northbound traffic was being rerouted onto County Road 200 at Rockwood.
