An 18-year-old man and two juveniles have been arrested in connection with a string of vehicle break-ins last week in the Widefield area.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said the suspects - Jovantae Craig and two juveniles males - broke into 23 vehicles south of Fontaine Boulevard and west of Fountain Mesa Road between the evening of Aug. 12 and early morning hours of Aug. 13. Money, electronics, jewelry and two firearms were among the items stolen from the vehicles.
The sheriff's office said Craig and the two other suspects were identified through a "subsequent investigation," though no details were provided. Deputies also recovered some of the stolen property, including the two firearms.
Craig was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass of automobile, conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. One of the juveniles was arrested on suspicion of possession of a weapon by a juvenile and 22 counts of criminal trespass of automobile. He is being held without bond at the Spring Creek Youth Services Center, the sheriff's office said. The other juvenile was served a summons alleging 22 counts of criminal trespass of automobile and released to his guardian.
Anyone who believes they are a victim of the vehicle break-ins or has information beneficial to the investigation is asked to call the sheriff's office at 390-5555.
