Breakdown: Last year, Pine Creek didn't get hot until starting 0-2 in league play. On Saturday, the Eagles will open the 5A Metro League season at Palmer riding a five-game winning streak. While Pine Creek is off until Saturday, the other five league squads play nonleague foes, highlighted by Liberty at Mountain Vista (10-1) on Tuesday. . While Sand Creek hosts Air Academy on Friday, neither can look ahead. Both have tall tests on Tuesday, when the Scorpions play Cheyenne Mountain while Air Academy travels to Palmer Ridge, which is flying high after beating Lewis-Palmer for the first time ever on Friday. And Cheyenne Mountain scored only 39 points in Friday's loss at Air Academy, so the Indians certainly will be looking to rebound. . Comeback boys' team of the year? Ellicott, hands down. With one more victory, the Thunderhawks will match their win total from the previous four seasons (4-16, 2-17, 2-17 and 0-19). According to the stats on Maxpreps, the last six-win season took place in 2005-06.
