Breakdown: Since its 5A CSML loss to Fountain-Fort Carson, Pine Creek has gone 4-0 in Colorado (1-3 in Arizona) with wins over Valor Christian and Lakewood. F-FC on the other hand is 2-6 since then. The league moves into full swing later this week, with the Trojans taking on Palmer twice and the Eagles playing Rampart twice. ... Falcon has yet to lose in the Centennial state. The Falcons get to prove their worth with back-to-back games against Palmer Ridge before consecutive games against Air Academy to close the week. Lewis-Palmer, meanwhile, already has shown what it can do with a sweep of Cheyenne Mountain and a nine-run win over Air Academy. ... TCA is proving it could be a factor in the state race after 10-run wins over University and Kent Denver, both AP-ranked teams. Peyton has a doubleheader with Kiowa on Saturday, which could go a long ways toward determining the 2A Black Forest League race.

Breakdown: Liberty is riding a three-game win streak, including a pair of victories over Palmer Ridge and Dakota Ridge. Pine Creek suffered its first loss of the season, a 1-0 OT loss to Cheyenne Mountain. ... Speaking of Cheyenne Mountain, the Class 4A champs continue to roll along, but they'll have a tough test with Sand Creek on Tuesday, Lewis-Palmer on Thursday and Thompson Valley on Saturday. Makes for an interesting first week in the PPAC, wouldn't you say? ... ECA vaults from the unranked to No. 1. And we think rightfully so. The Eagles beat Fountain Valley in OT last week. Will the Eagles remain here? With Manitou Springs and TCA on the schedule, ECA will have plenty of opportunities to prove it belongs.
