1. Peyton 11-2 No. 1

2. Pikes Peak Christian 5-7 No. 2

3. The Vanguard School 5-7 No. 3

Breakdown: The 5A Metro League season has gone predictably unpredictable. Doherty and Liberty both entered last week undefeated, then Doherty lost to Fountain-Fort Carson and Liberty lost to Rampart. On Tuesday, Doherty and Liberty, both 3-1, meet on the Lancers' home court. Fountain-Fort Carson is suddenly hot with a 3-1 league mark with wins over Rampart and Doherty last week. Pine Creek fell out of the rankings after a 0-4 league start, all losses coming by three points or fewer. The Eagles can shape the second half of league play this week as they play at Rampart and Doherty. . Air Academy and Sand Creek, both co-leaders of the PPAC with 6-1 marks, meet again Friday, this time at Air Academy. Sand Creek defended its home court in the first meeting 60-51. . CSCS has won eight straight after a 1-3 start, while St. Mary's rebounded from a loss to the Lions to sweep last weekend, including a convincing win at Ellicott. . Peyton, winner of five straight, meets 7-4 Kiowa on the road on Friday in the season's second matchup between the league's top two teams.

2A & Below

1. Peyton 12-1 No. 1

2. The Vanguard School 11-1 No. 2

3. Colorado Springs School 6-3 No. 3

Breakdown: Pine Creek heads to Rampart on Tuesday in a contest that will send one of these teams to the loss column for the first time in league play. Both are 4-0. They meet again at Pine Creek in the regular-season finale on Feb. 21. . Mesa Ridge travels to Sierra (9-6, 6-1 CSML) on Tuesday in a battle of the top two teams in that league. The Stallions fell to the Grizzlies 67-32 last month. Sand Creek is 7-0 in PPAC play, while Palmer Ridge, Falcon and surprising Cheyenne Mountain own 4-2 league marks. It's quite the turnaround for first-year Indians coach Mike Armentrout, who inherited a squad that went 2-21 last season. . TCA stubbed its toe in a loss at Buena Vista and now finds itself in third place in the Tri-Peaks West, behind Salida and Manitou Springs. On Tuesday, the Titans host Manitou Springs. TCA won the first meeting 47-36. St. Mary's (8-2 in the Tri-Peaks East) hosts Trinidad (6-2 in league) on Saturday for sole possession of second place behind state-ranked Lamar. . In 2A, inclement weather kept any of the area's top three teams from taking the court last weekend.

Peak Conference

1. Lewis-Palmer 14-1 No. 1

2. Palmer 7-6-1 No. 2

3. Pine Creek 6-5-1 No. 3

Breakdown: No one wants to hold on to that third spot in the rankings. Pine Creek blew out previously ranked Doherty 5-1 a week ago, before losing a 5-2 decision to Lewis-Palmer in adverse conditions - not a bad result against a Rangers team that hasn't lost a game since Dec. 6. Palmer gets a big test against Heritage on Monday night.
