Breakdown: It's the Pikes Peak region equivalent of "Judgment Week" in 5A and 4A boys' basketball. On Tuesday, Doherty, with a win at Fountain-Fort Carson, would avenge an earlier loss at home and take a huge step toward its first Colorado Springs Metro League crown since 2008-09. The Trojans, the two-time defending league champs, are a game behind Doherty after a loss at Rampart on Saturday. Meanwhile in 4A, both leagues will go to the final game to crown champs. In the Metro, a Mitchell win at Woodland Park on Tuesday would set up a showdown at Mesa Ridge on Thursday for the outright league title. Mesa Ridge has never won a 4A Metro League title, and Mitchell hasn't since 2000-01. And in a crazy three-team race in the PPAC, Sand Creek (10-2), Cheyenne Mountain (9-2) and Air Academy (8-3) enter the regular-season's final week with title hopes. Air Academy plays at Cheyenne Mountain, which is riding a nine-game league-winning streak, on Thursday. . St. Mary's continued its breakthrough season by winning the Tri-Peaks East league title with a 13-1 mark. Ellicott (11-3) and James Irwin (10-4) were next. In the Tri-Peaks West, one more week of league play remains as Manitou Springs and Florence, both 7-3, battle for second place behind undefeated CSCS. . Peyton, the 2A Black Forest League champion, faces a 13-3 Center team on Saturday in an intriguing nonleague matchup heading into the postseason.

Breakdown: The 5A Metro League title will come down to the final game when Rampart (8-0) travels to Pine Creek (7-1). Rampart won the first meeting at home 61-45 on Feb. 4 for its fifth straight win in the series. . In 4A, the area's top three, all among the top 10 teams in the latest AP poll, all continued to roll. Mesa Ridge won at previously undefeated Glenwood Springs on Saturday, and Sand Creek ran its win streak to 13 with a win at Pueblo West, a semifinalist last year, also on Saturday. . In the 3A Tri-Peaks West, Manitou Springs (6-2) can effectively clinch the league title by beating Buena Vista (6-3) on Tuesday. If the Mustangs don't, the league very well could end in a four-way tie (with TCA, Salida and Buena Vista) heading into next week's crossover tournament. St. Mary's ended league play in the East by winning five of seven, nearly upsetting 19-0 Lamar in the process in a 38-30 loss on Saturday. . Peyton, 2A's top-ranked team, not only has won 11 straight, but is in the midst of an eight-game stretch where it hasn't scored fewer than 75 points.
