A look at this week’s area college hockey top performers:
Jordan Himley, F, Air Force
Himley, a senior, described his pair of back-door power play goals this weekend – one early in a 4-3 win against RIT on Friday, the other tying the game late in a 3-2 loss Saturday – as “lucky” and “right place, right time.” But credit must be given for burying your chances.
Alex Mehnert, F, Air Force
The freshman defenseman earned his first three collegiate points this weekend, all power-play assists. His shot from the point was tipped by Erik Baskin for the game-winner Friday night, a timely victory the struggling Falcons.
Alec Calvaruso, G, Colorado College
The goaltender made his collegiate debut in an unenviable situation – down 3-0 in St. Cloud against the No. 2 Huskies. The freshman made 33 saves in relief.
