A look at this week's area college hockey top performers:
Mason Bergh, F, Colorado College
On the road against the No. 1 team in the country, winner of 14 straight in the lagging rivalry, a goal from Denver’s Jaakko Heikkinen with 2:28 remaining in the third period should have been it for the Tigers. But co-captain Bergh scored with seven seconds left and sent the game into overtime, where teammate Christiano Versich secured the extra point in a game to remember. Bergh assisted on Versich’s goal, which isn’t counted as an official stat, and added helpers on both of linemate Nick Halloran’s goals.
Nick Halloran, F, Colorado College
Halloran helped the Tigers keep pace with Denver’s formidable offense Friday, scoring in the second and third periods. He set up Bergh’s game-tying goal and also assisted on Versich’s double-overtime tally.
Trevor Gooch, F, Colorado College
Gooch was the only Tiger able to solve Denver goaltender Tanner Jaillet on Saturday night. On a line with Versich and Westin Michaud that was good all weekend, he buried a second attempt late in the first period. Gooch also assisted on Kristian Blumenschein’s first-period goal Friday night.
