PUEBLO — A Texas man accused of illegally transporting 11 Mexican foreign nationals in southern Colorado has been arrested.

Master Sgt. Bill Holt with the Colorado State Patrol says troopers were notified Friday of a suspicious vehicle headed west on U.S. Highway 50 just east of Penrose.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports 45-year-old Dagoberto Avila, of Rosenburg, Texas, was arrested and faces 11 counts of human smuggling. He is being held at the Fremont County jail, and his passengers were taken to a charitable center.
