GARDEN RIDGE, Texas — Police say preliminary autopsy results show that a Colorado woman who went missing in Central Texas nearly a month ago hanged herself shortly after saying she was going out for a walk.
Thirty-three-year-old Leanne Bearden disappeared Jan. 17 after leaving the home of her husband's parents in Garden Ridge, located just outside of San Antonio. Her body was found Thursday in a thickly wooded area about a half mile from the house.
The San Antonio Express-News (http://bit.ly/1fnpgop ) reports that police said Friday that the preliminary results indicate her death was caused by asphyxiation. Police say their investigation is closed, with the final ruling on the death pending toxicology results.
She and her husband, who are from the Denver area, had recently completed a two-year, round-the-world trek.
