Indulge your palate and your belly all for the love of a park - Bancroft Park, that is, in Old Colorado City.
The second annual Taste of Old Colorado City is in Bancroft Park on Sunday. About 40 vendors representing area restaurants, breweries and shops will be on hand to provide food and beverage samples.
"It is the most fun I've seen people have in a long time," says event chairperson Jewels Burdick, "and they're outside, enjoying food from all over, listening to great music and watching artists from the west side."
Last year, 650 people strolled through for nibbles and sips, live music and to watch local artists creating works for the silent auction.
Attendees can expect much of the same this year. Restaurants include Pizzeria Rustica, Tapateria, Jake and Telly's Greek Taverna and Uchenna. Participating artists include Reveille Kennedy and Sheary Clough Suiter, with music by WMD Bluegrass, a family band from Black Forest.
There will also be a kids area sponsored by the Pikes Peak Library District.
"Not only are they (people) doing a great thing for the west side," says Burdick, "but 100 percent of the proceeds goes to improve Bancroft Park. Our first project is to add restrooms."
