Staying strong to their musical roots of rock, folk and soul, The Robby Wicks Band is churning out some good music. You will be able to watch two of the five hubs of this musical spoke live on Take 10 on Friday, April 28, exclusively on the Gazette Facebook news platform during the noon hour.
I spoke with the group's Taylor Biskup, who will perform live with Robby Wicks from our Gazette studio in downtown Colorado Springs. Biskup got the musical bug from his mother and grandfather, "I started playing piano in first grade and then taught myself guitar and other instruments. I've been playing professionally like Robby for more than a decade and I'm only 32 years old." Wicks is also in his 30s and together they form a healthy chemistry of song poets and songwriters.
Biskup met Wicks in 2010 and the band officially launched in 2013. According to Biskup, if there is one word that describes The Robby Wicks Band it is "passionate." Biskup said, "What you are going to see on their Take 10 performance is two musicians who are passionate about what they do and honest about their songs and how they convey them." Biskup grew up in Colorado Springs. Wicks was part of a military family that eventually made their way to the city at the foot of Pikes Peak.
