Mix cool water with fresh jazz and rock and you've got a musical formula that makes up the group H30 with Alan Joseph. Joseph and H30 will be the featured performers on our exclusive Take 10, Friday, June 30 in the noon hour on the Gazette News Facebook platform.
Joseph and I had the opportunity to visit about his music and what creative legacy he and his group hope to leave after every performance, "I hope our music is melodic and pleasing to people's ears who are not familiar with jazz. There are a lot of people who say I've heard jazz and don't care for it, but I like your music."
H30, according to Alan is a stylistic mix of the groups Weather Report, Pat Metheny Group and The Police all rolled up into one. Joseph arrived in Colorado Springs from the home of Motown, aka Detroit, in 1978 and has loved his personal and musical experiences in the Pikes Peaks region since relocating here. His "aha" moment when he knew he was going to be a professional musician was when he got paid 20 bucks to play at a New Year's Eve bash with his high school friends back in the day, "I knew that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life."
Get set for the musical musings of Joseph on guitar, Randy Bowen on drums and Marc Neihof on bass guitar on Take 10, Friday June 30 in the noon hour on the Gazette News Facebook platform.
